Use the following steps to complete your online research:

 

Step One: Begin your online research with a database

Searching the databases is the first step for your research. These databases contain information that librarians and teachers evaluated and chose especially for elementary school students.

Grolier OnlineGrolier Online

Our Grolier Online subscription includes America the Beautiful and Amazing Animals.

America The Beautiful: State by state history and current events for Elementary and Middle schools.

Amazing Animals: Allows students to search for animal information by habitat or direct search.

To log in to Grolier Online from home, CLICK HERE. You'll need your student ID number (available on your report card or other official school documents). Type in 3252 and then your six digit student ID number (for a total of 10-digits).

Metrowest Subscription Databases:

All of the following databases are provided to the students, staff, and families of Westwood elementary schools by the Metrowest Massachusetts Regional Library System. To use these databases at home, have your library card handy and CLICK HERE. Type in your library barcode number to log in. Click on the "Magazines for K-12 Students" link and then select the database you want to use.

Kids InfoBits 

A periodical database designed for elementary school students, with easy access to full-text magazines, newspapers and reference books for information on current events, the arts, science, popular culture, health, people, government, history, sports and more.

World Book Online

World Book Online contains articles, web links, periodical articles related to subjects within World Book, pictures, maps, videos, animations, and sounds.

Kid's Edition K12  

A periodical database designed for elementary school students, with easy access to full-text magazines, newspapers and reference books for information on current events, the arts, science, popular culture, health, people, government, history, sports and more.

Novelist

A literature database that helps students find books similar to other books they've enjoyed, and helps teachers choose literature on specific topics.
